This bit applies pressure on the top and sides of the horse's tongue with no pressure on the roof of the horse's mouth.  It is an all-around bit that offers flex, bend, and control.  It is not intended for an aggressive horse.

Level Three bits are suited more for mature horses (4 to 5 years old) with the capacity to accept more pressure from the bit.  So, thinner or twisted mouthpieces, longer shanks, non-swiveling cheeks.  This category includes your curb bits.  Not severe bits, but just dedicated to more experienced horses and riders.  For easy recognition, all Level Three bits are color-coded yellow.
